TMC has seen the number of drivers using its Mileage Capture system increase by 40% in 2009.

More than 70,000 drivers now use TMC's advanced Mileage Capture system to report details of their business journeys and overall mileage.

The system aims to help fleets to clamp down on wasted miles and exaggerated claims and according to TMC has been shown to reduce mileage-related claims costs by an average of 24.7%.

Paul Jackson, managing director of TMC, said: "Our growth last year was fuelled by the rising cost pressures on fleets, which see that they can achieve substantial savings by making Mileage Capture their first line of defence against unnecessary mileage costs.

"We charge customers a flat rate of only 99 pence per driver per month. This means that they see an immediate return on their investment in using Mileage Capture to enforce accurate reporting of miles covered and fuel used."

The system immediately highlights anomalies and inaccuracies in users' reports, deterring drivers from reporting exaggerated mileages, fuel consumption or fuel prices in order to over-claim mileage expenses.
