THE Association of Car Fleet Operators is claiming 'strong support' for its campaign to force manufacturers to abolish delivery charges. And at the Fleet Show at Silverstone, ACFO chiefs were lobbying manufacturers to establish how many of them were willing to commit to restructuring their price lists.

ACFO, which launched its campaign earlier this month (Fleet News April 5), has called for:

ACFO launched the campaign with a letter to 30 manufacturers in the UK car fleet market, challenging them to respond to the real needs of their major client groups.

Organisations including the British Vehicle Rental and Leasing Association, the National Franchised Dealers Association and the AA have already backed the campaign (Fleet News April 12). And chairman Tony Leigh said: 'We have had a very substantial response from manufacturers. It is obvious many of them are now uncomfortable with the delivery charge anomaly. We have had indications from a number of manufacturers that they are looking seriously at this issue, and we now expect the separate delivery charge to be a thing of the past by the autumn.'
