‘Plugged in Fleets’ the new report published today (22nd Feb) by The Climate Group, Cenex and Energy Saving Trust can help you identify if and how electric vehicles will benefit your business.

The report looks into where EVs can bring value to a fleet and understand which circumstances electric cars and vans can be cost-effective. Considering drive cycle, and whole life costs including government tax and grant incentives, the report shows that there are certain circumstances where the new models of EV can make business sense for your company. Including the new plug-in van grant, an electric van under certain circumstances can cost 5ppm less than running a diesel equivalent. For a fleet running vehicles in and out of London, savings from the congestion charge could mean the benefit of an EV over a diesel van is more than 20ppm.

The authors of the report also emphasise the importance of identifying when EVs do not work for a fleet. The report is available to read on the Energy Saving Trust website www.energysavingtrust.org.uk.
