Alphabet has announced that AlphaCity is now available with an expanded choice of vehicles, with users also being able to access light commercial vehicles for the very first time.

Until now, AlphaCity was exclusively for BMW and MINI vehicles, but from this week corporate, SME and public sector fleets in the UK can choose keyless access, shared use vehicles in every segment from across a wide range of manufacturers.

As a result, Alphabet customers now have an even greater selection of electric and hybrid vehicles when considering shared usage vehicles.

Alphabet says that this will broaden the appeal of AlphaCity for organisations of all sizes in helping to meet diverse mobility needs.

As part of the development the company have also redesigned the AlphaCity reservation platform, as well as integrating it into the AlphaGuide app.

Expanding and enhancing AlphaCity was a logical next step for the company, which aims to create products and solutions that meet an organisation’s changing mobility needs.

“We continue to offer our customers the best-fit business mobility solution for their company,” said Carsten Kwirandt, head of marketing and business development at Alphabet International.

“Improving our highly-successful product AlphaCity by expanding the choice of vehicles which are able to be shared within a fleet, is our latest way of doing so.

A further development sees AlphaCity reservations being integrated into the enhanced AlphaGuide app. “The new feature advances AlphaGuide to the next level of user experience,” Kwirandt continued.

“From today, users have the option to book their AlphaCity vehicles in a few easy steps using the app, while still enjoying all of the other mobility features of AlphaGuide at their fingertips.”

The enhanced AlphaGuide app is now available in app stores and will be updated automatically for existing users.

In addition to key existing app functions such as access to contract data, electric charging locations or managing service requests, the new AlphaGuide will improve the user experience through a new look-and-feel to make it easier to use and more intuitive.

Users access the CarSharing section of AlphaGuide by selecting AlphaCity from the menu. Users can then book an AlphaCity vehicle for business purposes (according to their company rules) and view all upcoming reservations in detail including vehicle details, pick-up location, as well as the date and time of booking. Users also have the ability to access or cancel their existing AlphaCity reservations via the app.

Launched internationally in 2011 and in the UK in 2012, AlphaCity has grown to encompass 21,000 active users in eight markets with more than one million ‘shared miles’ being driven by AlphaCity customers in the UK alone during 2017.
