Lex Autolease has reached another growth milestone with the addition of the 50,000th vehicle leased through its broker division.

The vehicle - a Citroen Berlingo L1 van - has been leased to Dorset-based engineering firm Autoclave & Industrial Controls. The deal was secured through Alternative Route Finance, which currently runs 800 vehicles on behalf of Lex Autolease for small businesses across Southern England.

The Brighton-based business works closely with the UK's leading funding providers to offer car leasing, van leasing and fleet management solutions to UK businesses. The firm currently runs a fleet of approximately 3,000 catering predominantly for SMEs.

Nickie Brooks, managing director at Alternative Route Finance, said: "Growing awareness of the benefits of leasing, combined with renewed confidence in the UK economy means more firms are open to long term leasing agreements. This is particularly prevalent in the construction sector where we're seeing businesses taking advantage of the opportunity to replace older cars and vans without a significant upfront cost."

Steve Cocks, director of Lex Autolease's broker division, said: "Reaching the landmark figure is testament to the rise in vehicle leasing among SMEs over the last 12 months, and the part our introducers have played in that.

"The number of vehicles leased through the Lex Autolease broker division to small businesses during this period has grown by 31%, and continues to grow as more SMEs turn to leasing as a funding choice. This is a significant milestone on our journey to helping more and more SMEs realise the benefits of leasing.

"Brokers are an important channel for us to access small businesses across the UK, and provide a valuable service, particularly in assisting those SMEs that need help in navigating the market."
