The first FH Volvo tractor units to enter service in pallet distribution have been purchased by Edge Transport. The transport, storage and warehousing services provider were supplied with the trucks by Thomas Hardie Commercials of Deeside.

The five new FHs will join 12 other Volvo trucks which entered service with the thirty-two strong fleet at the beginning of this year.

In addition to the five FH tractor units, Edge Transport have also ordered a further 10 Volvo FL 4x2 rigid curtainsiders for their intensive distribution operation. As announced earlier this year, the company is moving on May 26, 2015, to a new 6-acre site on Fourth Avenue, Deeside. The new facility comprises a seventy five thousand square feet warehouse and transhipment area.

According to Edge Transport managing director Jonathan Edge, the new FHs are replacements for long haul fleet vehicles. “The FH was the natural choice for us,” he said, adding: “They will largely be used for long-haul groupage and full load deliveries from our new site.”

“The new site will enable us to expand our service offer with additional high quality, long and short-term warehousing solutions. Edge Transport aim to be the first choice for storage and distribution in the North West.”
