Mike Cooper has been appointed chief executive officer by parcel carrier Yodel and will officially take up the position on February 1.

Prior to joining Yodel, Cooper spent nine years at Arriva , one of Europe's leading passenger transport providers, where he was deputy CEO and managing director, overseeing £1 billion-plus turnover and 30,000 employees.

He also spent five years at Easyjet as chief commercial officer and four years at Thomson Holidays, where he was managing director of the direct sell business.

Dick Stead, executive chairman of Yodel, said: “Mike has an impressive track record of galvanising people to deliver exceptional results and using consumer insight to drive a great customer experience.

"He will focus us still further on our ever improving service levels and provide impetus to Yodel’s growth ambitions.”
