Northgate has ordered 250 Peugeot e-Expert vans as part of a strategy to help its customers transition to electric vehicles (EVs).

The new vehicles will be delivered in 2021 and will be available on Northgate’s flexible and long-term hire packages.

Tim Bailey, fleet director at commercial vehicle rental business, said: “We’re working to provide the latest electric vehicle options to help support carbon reduction. By agreeing this initial deal with Peugeot for 250 e-Experts, we can ensure that customers who want to use fit-for-purpose EVs in their fleets can do so quickly and with minimal impact on cashflow.”

The e-Expert is a versatile choice for businesses looking for an electric van. It provides a range of up to 211 miles, when fitted with an optional 75kWh battery and has a maximum payload of up to 1,226Kg with a 50kWh battery.

Charging can take as little as 45 minutes (up to 80%) on 100kW fast chargers, keeping businesses on the road.

Last year, Northgate added 25 Nissan e-NV200 electric vans to its fleet.

Northgate says the evolution in technology means it is important when operating electric vehicles that whole life costs are considered, from initial capital outlay through running costs.

The company’s rental packages include servicing, maintenance and tyres – along with the option to add a range of fleet management and Accident Management services to assist with effective management, cost reduction, efficiency improvements and meeting legal and duty of care obligations.
