Murphy Plant is expanding its fleet with 134 new Volkswagen Crafters, bringing its total fleet to more than 1,000 vans.

The vans are being supplied by Alan Day Volkswagen Van Centre and feature bespoke conversions, carried out by Bott, including new racking systems.

They will be used to transport equipment around the country.

Murphy Plant says it chose the Crafter because it offers the most “comprehensive package”, whilst delivering fuel economy and an “exceptional” aftersales service with extended opening hours.

Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles rolled out extended opening hours across its network of Van Centres in 2017 as part of its Working With You brand promise. The service not only accommodates changes in businesses’ working hours and gives customers greater choice and flexibility, but also helps minimise the impact of costly downtime.

Tony Murphy, fleet manager from the Murphy Group, said: “We invest heavily in our fleets to ensure we can provide the best customer service as efficiently as possible so it was crucial for us to choose a competent and reliable van partner to help bolster our fleet.

“The complete package offered by Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles including its excellent Crafter vans, range of conversions and extensive aftersales options meant this was an easy choice for us.”

Claire English, head of fleet for Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles, addedd: “We are delighted to have partnered with Murphy Plant to supply a fleet of Crafter vans. We have worked extensively with the customer to ensure the vans are designed exactly to their needs and feature a completely bespoke body paint and livery to fit with their corporate branding. We look forward to continuing to work with Murphy Plant in the future.”
