More than 1,000 downloads for Fleet Check’s Walkaround Check App for commercial vehicles have been recorded in its first 60 days on sale.

The app, created to provide a way of carrying out essential commercial vehicle safety checks, has already been adopted by a number of the company’s customers including Blind Veterans UK, Tructyre, London and Quadrant Housing, and Hyperoptic.

Launched at the CV Show in April, the Walkaround Check App creates the means to schedule, carry out, confirm, follow-up and audit all kinds of inspections for HGVs, vans, buses and coaches from daily walkarounds to formal weekly or monthly checks.

It delivers a completely paper-free checking process, instant visibility of missed checks, uploading of relevant photos from drivers, bespoke checking for specialist equipment and automated mileage collection to enable accurate forward maintenance planning.

Peter Golding, managing director at Fleet Check, said: “The Walkaround Check App is, we believe, the most robust, simple-to-use and effective electronic methods of replacing an old school manual commercial vehicle safety process available today.

“We spent a long time ensuring that it works highly effectively in real world fleet situations where safety processes can easily become a little ragged. The app creates an infrastructure that minimises the chances of this occurring.

“The strong initial reaction from fleets indicates that we have really struck a chord and we are also in conversations with many more about adopting the product.”

The Walkaround Check App, which is fully compliant with the DVSA safety and maintenance guidelines, integrates with Fleet Check’s fleet management software, which is in use by more than 500 customers operating 50,000 vehicles.
