Independent Glass expands its fleet with seven-tonne vans from Ryder

Independent Glass has added two seven-tonne vans to its fleet for the first time, supplied by Ryder.

The Iveco Daily 70C 180 vans, specified with automated gearboxes, are fitted with internal and external glass racks.

A lot of the product we carry is long pieces of glass and we use 16-tonners and 26-tonners. However, recently we’ve been doing a lot of site deliveries in city centres, so we needed vehicles that could handle the length of glass but were more suited to city centres," said George McCallum, Independent Glass group transport manager.

The vans have been supplied on a three-year contract hire arrangement with maintenance included. One is stationed in Independent Glass’s Glasgow facility, while the other is stationed at the firm’s Mansfield location (from where deliveries in and around London are made).

Independent Glass has a fleet of 36 vehicles, ranging from 3.5-tonne vans to 44-tonne trucks, all supplied by Ryder.
