Crystal Ball is offering a 10% discount on its fleet tracking and 3G HD video solution, SmartCam, for members of the Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme (FORS).

As a FORS Associate, Crystal Ball is aiming to help drive up fleet standards across the sector and add value to the  national accreditation scheme.

Crystal Ball suggests its SmartCam can be particularly useful for two of the FORS requirements: the incidents and collisions standard and daily walk around checks.

To achieve the incidents and collisions standard, fleet operators should ensure that incidents, traffic collisions, and reported near-misses are recorded, investigated and analysed, implementing actions to address any lessons learned and identified trends. SmartCam’s HD 1080p video recording quality provides event-generated videos, which are sent to the Crystal Ball admin portal and Manager App in real-time. This functionality enables fleet operators to "quickly and clearly identify incidents and improve poor driver behaviour, helping to identify dangerous, reckless or tired driving", according to Crystal Ball.

Event-generated videos may also provide invaluable evidence in respect of accidents and subsequent insurance claims, reduce claim processing times and can offer protection against ‘crash for cash’ scams.

The daily walk around checks standard requires fleet operators to ensure that vehicles are checked before each shift. This is to ensure that vehicles are inspected for safety, and that defects are rectified prior to usage on each shift to ensure the safety of operations.  A system of daily checks for each vehicle using a checklist must be demonstrated. With SmartCam’s paperless vehicle checklists, which are sent to the Crystal Ball admin portal on completion, fleet operators can ensure they are complying with this FORS standard.
