Vauxhall Movanos are now type approved for conversion by Doncaster-based Clarks Vehicle Conversions to create a welfare vehicle.

Based on the front-wheel-drive Movano L3H2 van, the conversion provides canteen seating for up to four people at a time, offers separate heating, hand wash and eating facilities and the ability to provide a hot water boiler for tea and a built-in microwave. A separate toilet facility complete with hand wash basin can also be ordered as an option.

The Movano welfare vehicle fully meets the very latest, stringent whole vehicle type approval regulations and features a robust interior, fully lined in a light grey phenol-laminated ply to provide a durable quality finish. A number of tailored options are also available such as racking, shelving, lining kits and ladder racks.

Clarks Vehicle Conversions business owner Paul Clark said: “We offer a drive-away solution. As long as we have all the items we need in stock, we can turn it round in three or four weeks.”

Clarks Vehicle Conversions was one of the first to recognise the need for welfare vehicles when it began converting vans for crews working on the rail network, and demand is growing. He continued: “It used to be solely blue-chip companies like Network Rail or Balfour Beatty that wanted them. These days, we’re finding that a lot of smaller civil engineering companies are coming to us because they can’t get on to construction sites unless they provide their crews with proper facilities.”
