McConechy’s Tyres takes 34 Mercedes-Benz Sprinters

McConechy’s Tyres has commissioned a new fleet of 34 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter vans to help keep its customers’ trucks rolling.

Supplied by Mercedes-Benz Commercial Vehicles Ayr, and the subject of a contract hire agreement with the Dealer’s parent company T.O.M. Vehicle Rental, they are now working across McConechy’s network of 50 branches throughout Scotland and the North of England.

All but one are 313 CDI Long models, powered by fuel-efficient 95 kW (129 hp) Euro 6 engines. Their interiors were fully ply-lined and kitted out by T.O.M. Vehicle Rental with non-slip floors, drawer cabinets and toolboxes, rotary roof vents, beacons, working lights, load locks and sinks with hot and cold water. These are joined by a single 313 CDI Long chassis cab fitted with an extended-frame aluminium dropside body, again by T.O.M. Vehicle Rental.

The contract hire package includes all servicing and repairs, fleet and accident management support and round-the-clock emergency roadside assistance, with relief vehicles where needed.

Maintenance is carried out in the workshops of Mercedes-Benz Commercial Vehicles Aberdeen, Ayr and Highland, and at T.O.M. Vehicle Rental’s Authorised Repairer site in Airdrie.

McConechy’s operations director John Mason said: “We’ve had a few Sprinters before, although never in such numbers, so we know they are very robust, reliable vehicles that offer excellent ‘uptime’. We provide a 24-hour, 365-day emergency service to truck fleet operators, which means we need to be sure our vehicles will arrive when we say they will. These new Sprinters will help us to keep our promise to our customers.”

He continued: “The contract hire rates are also very competitive and allow us to budget with confidence, knowing that there will never be any unforeseen costs. Our drivers are delighted with their new vans, too.”
