FORS, the Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme, has partnered with FORS Associate BP Fuel Cards, to launch a two-part webinar series to help members implement strategies for carbon management in their fleets.

The webinars will introduce FORS members to the broader climate challenge and how this impacts freight and logistics businesses. Providing practical advice and guidance on achieving best practice, the sessions will help transport managers implement and execute a strategy which can lead to a carbon neutral outcome.

The first webinar will be held on Wednesday, May 3, and is for fleet managers looking to optimise fleet efficiencies, reduce costs and ultimately cut carbon. The second, to be held on Tuesday, May 9, will look at baselining current emissions and practical ways of offsetting emissions.

Covering the competitive and reputational advantages of more efficient fleets, guests will be able to hear directly from experts in fuels and lubricants at BP.

Reducing fleet carbon emissions is an important objective for the industry as a whole, but it can also give a competitive edge to businesses already operating a carbon management program. Explaining the role that fleet managers and operators play in reducing emissions, speakers will also discuss how carbon offsetting can work as part of a broader strategy to tackle environmental issues.

FORS members are required to monitor and manage fuel consumption and emissions, but this webinar will go a step further and teach members about the risks and opportunities of starting a carbon reduction journey.

“This is a fantastic opportunity for our members to hear from industry experts on how to reduce their carbon footprint,” said Paul Wilkes, FORS business services manager.

“As a best practice accreditation scheme, we are delighted that BP has decided to share their insight and help our members realise real change for both their fleets and the environment. This format will also allow our members, based all over the UK, to attend the session.”

Andrew Allen, head of BP Fuel Cards, UK said: “We recognise the increasing challenge fleets face from reducing their fleet emissions without significantly impacting operations.

“Our new fuel card offer in collaboration with BP Target Neutral overcomes this challenge by enabling fleets to continue their operation whilst ensuring the environmental impact from driving is fully mitigated.”
