Reconomy, provider of outsourced recycling and resource management services, has joined FORS (Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme), as a FORS Champion.

Although FORS boasts over 4,200 members, it is the FORS Champions who are uniquely placed to promote FORS to a wider audience by encouraging the uptake of the scheme across the supply chain.

Reconomy works with thousands of UK businesses, helping them to manage waste in a responsible, sustainable and cost-effective way. Supported by a network of over 1,000 pre-approved supply chain partners, Reconomy’s nationwide infrastructure serves sectors as diverse as commercial construction through to facilities management.

With strict criteria for supply chain partners, FORS is now a key part of Reconomy’s supplier selection process, and is always taken into consideration when supplier capabilities are assessed. The FORS Standards are regularly communicated to Reconomy’s supply chain partners as a way of improving business performance.

Michael Benton, operations director at Reconomy said: “From our unique market-leading position, we have the ability to directly influence a significant number of waste providers and promote best practice, safer procedures and operational efficiency across our supply chain.

“By making FORS a key component within our supplier assessment and performance reviews, we hope to drive real engagement in the scheme and help to raise standards across the waste industry.”
