Waste management and aggregate company Mick George is supporting National Lorry Week with a series of initiatives.

The company operates a fleet of in excess of 310 HGV's across East Anglia.

The theme for this year’s awareness week is ‘The Next Generation’ and Mick George is providing free vehicle demonstrations and discussions at public amenities around Cambridgeshire as well as visiting schools to deliver educational and practical safety lessons.

Jon Stump, finance director at Mick George, said: "Transport in its various forms is critical to our business and the numerous services we provide. We invest significant amounts of money in our fleet and schemes such as our own ‘Driver Academy’ to supplement this provision."

"Schemes such as National Lorry Week go along way to raise the profile of the industry, influence perception and ensure adequate recognition is received. The industry is currently suffering a driver shortage, so what better way to showcase a great career prospect."
