Doncaster-based road haulage firm BJS has taken delivery of 15 new vehicles as part of the first wave of the company’s ambitious expansion plans.

The new Mercedes-Benz Actros tractor units, which will allow the company to fulfil key contracts across the UK and Europe, will be painted in the company’s new red livery to celebrate their sponsorship deal with Doncaster Rovers FC.

BJS is also planning to further increase their fleet later this year, having placed an additional order for 26 DAF tractor units and eight new DAF 7.5 and 18 ton curtain-side vehicles, which are due to enter service in September.

Richard Hall, operations director at BJS, said: “As a haulage business, the efficiency of our operations is a always a focus and a significant part of that is maintaining a modern fleet.

“These new vehicles are not only safer and more comfortable for our drivers, but they will also have lower running and maintenance costs, creating savings we can pass on to our customers.

“The demand for our services is increasing and we needed to make a significant investment in the business to ensure that we have the resources in place to cope.

“The support we received from Close Brothers Commercial Vehicle Solutions has been invaluable in helping us achieve this.

“We’ve worked with them for a number of years now and we look forward to continuing the relationship.

“Their specialist team has fantastic knowledge of both our business and they were able to turnaround the deal within a short time frame.”

Richard Gosling, sales director at Close Brothers Commercial Vehicle Solutions, said: “As a whole, the transport industry appears optimistic at present, with the latest Close Brothers Business Barometer revealing that 35% of firms plan to invest in their business over the next 12 months.

“We’re pleased to help firms such as BJS to put those plans into action.”
