Microlise Group has revealed the shortlisted drivers for its annual Driver of the Year awards, highlighting the most talented logistics drivers working in the UK transport industry today.

Developed in cooperation with The University of Nottingham, this year’s awards fall into two groups:

  • Data-led Awards – based on Microlise Group’s own telematics data, the company works closely with a team from the University’s Advanced Data Analytics Centre to deliver impartial analysis.
  • Awards by Nomination – voted for by industry peers and judged by an expert panel of road transport professionals.

Jemma James, managing director of TruTac (part of the Microlise Group) and representative on this year’s judging panel, said: “The awards celebrate our true road ambassadors and champion the vital role that they play.

“Each driver’s professionalism, passion and commitment make them all heroes and they are a shining example of everything we should be proud of within logistics.”

Fellow judge and Deputy Traffic Commissioner, Miles Dorrington, added: “The quality drivers that I saw shortlisted for the Driver of The Year awards was extremely high, and reminded me that there are far more compliant, well-rounded drivers who are prepared to go the extra mile every day than there are non-compliant drivers.

“The tools and technology now available to measure drivers’ competence and compliance shine a bright light on the many great drivers – young and old – who act as ambassadors for the industry.”

Winners in each category will be announced during a black-tie VIP dinner ceremony on Tuesday, May 16, and the Group’s overall ‘Driver of the Year’ – whittled down from over 230,000 drivers across the UK – will be crowned the following day at the Microlise Transport Conference.
