Ryder appoints new sales and marketing director

Ryder has promoted John Murray to the role of sales and marketing director.

In his new role, he will focus on generating new business for Ryder as well as maintaining its excellent record of customer retention.

Previously, Murray was general manager of Ryder’s trailer operations, where he grew the volume of lease business and led the acquisition, and took on the management of Bullwell Trailer Solutions, the specialist in mobile trailer repair and maintenance.

He started his career with Ryder in 2010 when he was involved in Ryder’s acquisition of Hill Hire plc. Before that, he spent 14 years at General Electric Corporation in senior management roles at TIP Trailer Services, TLS and Avis Fleet Services, after spending the first 23 years of his career at the Fruehauf Corporation.

Murray said: "I want to further develop our sales team to ensure we’re doing all that we can to drive efficiencies and improvements in our customers’ operations. We know that vehicle uptime, health and safety, compliance, and peak rental coverage are priorities for our customers, and we’ll continue to focus on those key aspects of our service offering."

David Hunt, Ryder vice president and managing director, FMS Europe, said: "It’s a pleasure to promote John to this position. I know both our customers and our staff will benefit from his vision and experience as Ryder continues to grow and address the challenges our customers face."

John Murray replaces Robin White, who has joined Nationwide Platforms.
