Bridgestone Tyres has been recognised for its continuing support of the Freight Transport Association's Logistics Carbon Reduction Scheme (LCRS).
As Bridgestone enters its fifth year of partnership with LCRS and membership reaches 120 companies, FTA was delighted to present the LCRS Industry Plaque to Bridgestone Tyres product and marketing manager Andy Mathias (pictured right).
Rachael Dillon, FTA’s climate change policy manager, said: “We are grateful for Bridgestone’s continued support for the LCRS. Bridgestone’s involvement highlights the value of operational actions such as tyre selection and management to support businesses' efforts to make improvements in vehicle fuel efficiency. “
Mathias added: “I am very proud to accept this plaque on behalf of Bridgestone Tyres to recognise the five-year partnership we have with FTA and the LCRS. Over the years I have observed the progress that FTA has made and the scheme has gone from strength-to-strength with over 84,000 commercial vehicles currently covered.
“I am convinced that the scheme has helped the industry demonstrate to the government that it does not need to regulate fleet operators to reduce carbon emissions, and that through sharing best practices facilitated by the FTA, vehicle manufacturers, operators and suppliers working together can achieve carbon reductions.
“Bridgestone is committed to find ways to help the industry reduce its carbon emissions through tyre technology, and through the FTA’s LCRS, we are undertaking some ‘real world’ fuel efficient tyre trials which are providing some excellent results.”
Bridgestone Tyres is also sponsoring the LCRS Leadership in Carbon Reduction Award to reward scheme members for their carbon reduction actions. Shortlisted companies will be announced in early April ahead of the Multimodal Awards.
The LCRS continues to deliver progress in tackling freight carbon emissions, which is particularly important as the Department for Transport is currently conducting a Freight Carbon Review. The sixth annual LCRS Report will be launched on May 4.
