Ryder has supplier metal recycling merchant Walter Heselwood with a new 18-tonne skip lorry.

It is the first vehicle that the firm has obtained via contract hire.

The DAF LF230FA will be used in and around Sheffield and South Yorkshire, delivering and collecting iron, steel, non-ferrous and special metals to and from engineering businesses and other organisations.

Robin Turner, financial director at Walter Heselwood, said: "We keep vehicles for a long time because of the low mileage and, with this vehicle, we have opted for no capital outlay and a fixed cost to the business. It seemed logical to look at the whole life cost of the vehicle and keep per mile costs down, which is what Ryder was able to provide."

The DAF truck features Harsh hydraulics - Walter Heselwood’s preferred lifting equipment supplier. The new vehicle joins Walter Heselwood’s fleet, which comprises of bulk-loaders, hook loaders, flatbeds and skip wagons.
