Camera Telematics has reported it has helped Crouch Logistics achieve insurance savings of more than a quarter-of-a million pounds from its Street Angel solution.

The company said the savings have been achieved by using footage captured on Street Angel – the onboard digital camera - as admissible evidence in court to prove liability.

An accident occurred involving a Crouch Logistics vehicle and an Italian sports car valued in excess of £180k, but having the footage of the incident available from the Street Angel device, Crouch Logistics were able to prove that their driver was not at fault and not liable for the insurance settlement.

A logistics company recently proved it was not liable for a collision with a Lamborghini using dashcam footage.

Chris Crouch, managing director at Crouch Logistics, said: “Our decision to install Street Angel on our fleet of vehicles has been completely vindicated by the performance of the technology in resolving numerous insurance claims that could have potentially cost the business hundreds of thousands of pounds.

“Street Angel provides the critical backbone to our risk management strategy and is invaluable in safeguarding not just our fleet and the goods transported, but also our drivers. I would recommend Street Angel to any organisation that is looking for peace-of-mind when it comes to managing on road risk.”

Street Angel provides tracking functionality and has no SD card, to ensure no loss of memory. The solutions uses 4G connectivity to continually record video evidence of the journey and the vehicle's surroundings on to the internal memory.

Using 4G connectivity, the Street Angel transmits data associated with vehicle speed, GPS position and shock axis sensor to a designated SSL encrypted server ensuring data is safe and secure. In the event of a collision, the unit automatically transmits all its data for that event.

Camera Telematics highlighted the importance of having footage of an accident to provide irrefutable evidence in the event of a claim.

Errin McNamee, UK managing director at Camera Telematics, said: “Crouch Logistics’ insurance savings are testament to the power of Street Angel.

“Fleet managers who adopt Street Angel will have the utmost reassurance of having the most advanced on-board vehicle camera available, which unlike other cameras, uniquely delivers all the features demanded by fleet operators to protect their fleet on one device.”

Crouch Logistics operates a combined fleet of over 180 vehicles.
