Camera Telematics agrees deal with National Seaways Freight

National Seaways Freight will install Camera Telematics’ multi-camera ‘Street Angel’ solution across its fleet of articulated trucks to help provide an accurate recording of any roadside incident and the availability of video evidence in the event of an insurance claim.

Based in Ireland, National Seaway Freight transport goods throughout the country, with 80% of journeys taking place in rural areas with narrow roads. The company said it was for this reason the multi-camera solution was introduced, to help provide visibility of the entire vehicle.

JP O’Sullivan, operations supervisors at National Seaways Freight, said: “We spoke to several onboard camera providers, but it was clear from the outset that the complete package offered by Street Angel, including a multi-camera solution, no SD card and accurate tracking via the Street Angel app would provide us with a significant reduction in the risk associated with running our fleet.

“Camera Telematics has been real assistance in helping us future-proof our fleet from potential insurance fraud.

“Also, the availability of a 360-degrees system ensures that we have the maximum flexibility to monitor cargo, vehicle side, reversing and driver angles, and forward facing.

“Two hundred hours of footage using 5 x FHD 1080p channels is achieved with 2TB HHD."

Street Angel delivers fleet operators first notification of loss (FNOL) data in the event of an accident or incident on the road.

Using 4G connectivity, the Street Angel transmits data associated with vehicle speed, GPS position and shock axis sensor to a designated SSL encrypted server ensuring data is safe and secure. In the event of a collision, the unit automatically transmits all its data for that event.

Mark Stamper, group managing director at Camera Telematics, said: "Street Angel not only delivers National Seaways Freight peace-of-mind in ensuring safer driving and complete protection against fraudulent insurance claims, but also the reassurance of having the most advanced onboard vehicle camera available, which unlike other cameras, uniquely delivers all the features required on one device.”
