Drivers embrace TTC Group's online Driver CPC training

Research shows that drivers at East Riding of Yorkshire Council have embraced TTC Group’s new online Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) training.

Of over 100 drivers trained to date, 98% said they would recommend the training to others.

Having been awarded the contract to deliver the council’s managed driver CPC programme in March 2020, at the start of the coronavirus pandemic, TTC group began delivering all training online.

The council has been using the virtual classroom offer to provide its drivers with the latest educational resources.

TTC Group also recently announced it is providing 4x4 and 3.5t tipper driver safety training to HS2 construction workers at EKFB.

Philip Burgess, fleet services manager at East Riding of Yorkshire Council, said, “Moving towards delivering the CPC training online and working with TTC Group has been an easy transition. We have been really pleased with the training delivered and so too have our drivers.”

“We take our Driver CPC really seriously and chose TTC Group for their overall experience, customer service and ability to create bespoke training courses for our drivers. We have a wide range of drivers and different vehicle types and we believe that all training needs to be relevant to the driver and truly engaging.

“We have seen a change in our drivers and a keen interest in the online provision which fits perfectly with our long-term ambition to make training count and align with our ‘Everyone Matters’ vision.”

Licence Bureau has also launched its new CPC remote training programme.

Andy Wheeler, head of technical delivery at TTC Group, said, “At the time of the contract award we were converting all our Driver CPC courses to be compatible with online delivery which involved making the training as engaging as possible, while not deviating from the course summary.

“We were fortunate enough to have gained extensive experience in delivering training online as it followed the rollout of delivering National Speed Awareness courses via Zoom to thousands of drivers through our many UK police contracts.”

TTC Group says online course delivery allows the company to capture real time course feedback; assess drivers’ knowledge and the agility to adapt courses as required.

Drivers are achieving an 80% average score on their knowledge assessments post-training, the group says.

Fleet News Awards + Commercial Fleet Awards 2021

The Fleet News Awards is moving to a new date for 2021.

Traditionally held in March, next year the awards night moves to June 29 at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London. It will also for the first time incorporate the Commercial Fleet Awards to create an unparalleled celebration that honours and recognises excellence across every part of the fleet sector.

Stephen Briers, editor-in-chief of Fleet News, said: “With the industry in turmoil due to the coronavirus pandemic, we had a chance to reflect and review our awards proposition for 2021. While going virtual is an option, and one we are very excited about with our Fleet & Mobility Live show in November, we believe that an awards evening is also a networking evening and a chance to meet old friends and make new acquaintances in a relaxed environment.

“For many guests, it’s their industry highlight of the year. That’s why we decided to move the date to give us a better chance of being live at the Grosvenor House.”

Fleet News Awards 2021, incorporating Commercial Fleet Awards, will offer a unique opportunity to bring together the entire fleet sector to celebrate and honour the best people, companies and vehicles.

It is set to become the biggest and most important night in fleet. Further details about awards categories, judges and auditing will be released in January when Fleet News officially launches the Fleet News Awards 2021.
