Addison Lee has launched AL Request – a new service which allows it to pick up people’s click and collect orders and deliver it to their homes.

AL Request will be available across Addison Lee’s digital channels – app and web – and the functionality allows customers to add their order receipt number to the booking for proof of purchase and collection.

Liam Griffin, CEO of Addison Lee, said: “We know how hard it is for people right now, so we have launched our new AL Request service to bring the everyday to people’s homes.

“With public transport less appealing and the cold weather and dark nights setting in, Addison Lee can provide a safe and reliable option for people who still need to get hold of essential items.”

Immediately after the first Covid-19 lockdown, Addison Lee saw demand for its courier services rise by 30% and the company says this service will help businesses and consumers navigate the second lockdown.

In March, a consortium led by Griffin – a former CEO of Addison Lee Group – and Cheyne Capital’s Strategic Value Credit business completed the buy-out of the private hire company.

It now holds a majority stake in the business - in a deal that sees at least £41 million of new investment flow into the firm.
