R M Penny has partnered with Teletrac Navman to increase efficiency and productivity. The company provides plant hire, demolition and excavation services across the South West and South Wales.

The company has chosen Teletrac Navman to help introduce a new fleet management system.

R M Penny operates a 70-plus fleet of lorries, tippers, and a range of plant and demolition equipment.

Stuart Mcardle, transport manager at R M Penny, said: “As a business we decided to update our current system this financial year, to achieve better productivity, drive efficiency and of course reduce costs – particularly our ever-increasing insurance premiums.

“Managing our expansive fleet is no mean feat, so we opened up the tender to the best in the industry.

“The overall functionality needed to be easy-to-use and as stress-free as possible to implement.

“We also needed something that would give us real-time visibility. Director did just that. What’s more, it comes with an extensive reporting system that we can adapt to produce more meaningful reports for the business.”

Teletrac Navman’s connected fleet management system, Director, will offer the company fleet tracking, an overview of vehicle location and performance. It will be able to monitor driver behaviour, and to implement safer driving to decrease risks on the road.

Its ConEx monitoring solution, which tracks the movements and actions of individual vehicles during operation, will alert management when a vehicle is active, when a vehicle door has been opened, or if a tipper bucket is engaged.

Telemac Navman vice president of sales, Scott Hutchins, said: “R M Penny’s success goes to show that if you have the right foundation and willingness to keep updating your practices then you can really achieve positive, industry-wide recognition."

He concluded: “We are delighted to help the business evolve to the next stage of fleet management and reap the rewards of adopting a full digital transformation.”
