Speedy Freight has expanded its transport service in York. The new branch will create up to 20 jobs and will be under the management of Simon Chorlton, the owner of the Hull and Doncaster franchises.

The expansion follows the 2016 opening of its Yorkshire-based branches. The company currently operates just under 60 franchised depots across the UK.

It provides a courier service that allows urgent, or sensitive freight to be collected within an hour of booking. This can then be delivered across the UK.

Chorlton said: “I’m excited to launch in York and take our knowledge and experience into a new area, where I am sure we will be equally successful.

“We are now recruiting up to 20 owner drivers – mostly of vans, to our preferred driver group.

“We have access to 4,000 vehicles around the country and we can deliver anything from an urgent medical sample to the essential bricks to keep a construction site going.

“We operate a dedicated service, which means we will only carry one client’s goods on board at a time and we go direct from the collection address to the delivery address, ensuring consignments travel safely and securely.”

Speedy Freight will move any size or shape of product, and it has access to a fleet of 4,000 vehicles ranging from full-weight artics to car-derived vans.

Chorlton concluded: “It’s a very cost-effective service for customers who need things doing fast.

“We all have those occasions where something needs to get there now – and our system guarantees clients that premium service with only a marginal extra cost compared to a planned, shared-platform logistics service which would typically deliver within 48 hours.”

This expansion will add to the 40 new jobs the company created earlier this year.
