FTA has given Menzies Distribution (Swindon depot) its Roadworthiness Award. The accolade was introduced in 2007. The company has been acknowledged for its maintenance of 18 vehicles, tractor units and trailers.

The FTA provides vehicle inspections in order to help companies ensure they are achieving the highest levels of safety and compliance.

Patrick Cobb, FTA’s contract manager, said: “Maintaining fleets to the highest standards of safety and compliance is a priority for FTA and its members.

“Its fleet management team is dedicated to maintaining the very highest safety and compliance levels and this award is a reflection of the exacting standards against which the Menzies Distribution team operates its vehicles.”

“FTA’s Roadworthiness Award is a very well-deserved acknowledgement of all their efforts – they set a very high benchmark and continually exceed expectations.”

Menzies Distribution has a fleet of over 1200 vehicles travelling over 49 million miles per year. The award recognizes the high level of maintenance that goes into keeping these vehicles on the road, and in good condition.

The FTA inspections cover across the logistics sector. It covers HGVs, vans, passenger vehicles, tankers, specialist vehicles and mechanical handling equipment.

A high level of logistics is vital to keep Britain trading, directly having an impact on more than seven million people employed in the making, selling and moving of goods.

Gary Foster, Menzies Distribution site operations manager, said: “Menzies Distribution prides itself on having the highest of standards and we are delighted that the maintenance and safety standards we set for our fleet have been recognised with this prestigious award.

"Menzies Distribution has a fleet of over 1200 vehicles travelling in excess of 49 million miles per year, and ensuring they are well maintained is a foundation for our reliable ‘just in time’ logistics service.”
