Nextbase has launched its new 380GW dashcam: its first model aimed specifically at the commercial vehicle sector.

The 380GW records footage in 1080p HD and comes with a permanent mounting system to avoid tampering, while in-built GPS monitors location and speed data. It also features an ultra-wide, moveable lens to adapt to different angles of commercial vehicles' windscreens.

Nextbase has also upgraded its app, which allows drivers to upload footage to their employers, or share it with an insurer or police. A new password protected option will only allow fleet managers access to footage.

The company has partned with an insurance specialist to create a dashcam-inclusive policy.

Nextbase said businesses that install the 380GW in their fleet can save up to 25% on their premiums in the MyVan policy. It estimates the average saving for each driver would be £250.

Richard Peak, senior business sevelopment manager at Nextbase, said: “Commercial drivers are the backbone of the UK’s infrastructure and it is vital that they are protected as best they can be while on the road.

"In the same vein, companies are starting to come around to their responsibility to give their employees the means to protect themselves and recognise the power of keeping their vehicles on the roads in driving their businesses forward.

"As such we hope that the 380GW and the accompanying MyVan policy can be a springboard to security for businesses up and down the country."
