Online appliance retailer Buy It Direct has changed its fleet to Maxi-Low UK to take advantage of the latest lightweight technology developments that the commercial vehicle converter has brought to market this year.

Buy It Direct has opted for the ultra-payload Maxi-Low Slimbo, a 24cu m lightweight body created from polypropylene and giving a payload of more than 1,350kg, including the driver and 25kg of fuel.

Scott Guthrie, logistics development manager for Buy It Direct, said: “Our new Maxi-Low vehicles are specifically tailored around the needs of our two-man home delivery service.

"Thanks to Maxi-Low’s clever innovations, we have upgraded our fleet with vans that have a higher cubic capacity, a secure heavy duty roller shutter and a number of additional features such as on-board CCTV and step mountable access ramp, within our target payload of 1,300kg.

“With the addition of these features, we have seen a much reduced security risk and improved efficiencies on home delivery.

"These vans are an excellent investment for our ever improving customer-focused home delivery team.”

The release of the new Maxi-Low Slimbo, to complement the existing range of lightweight vehicles, is a natural progression for the Leicestershire-based vehicle converter, said James Taylor, sales director at the company.

He added: "The new Slimbo means we can now offer internal heights of up to 2,450mm but have retained the very low floor loading height of just 600mm and the standard Maxi-Low Classic width.

"A further development this year is the introduction of the new one-piece aerodynamic roof with the built -in vortex reduction system in the rear to further aid fuel efficiency and to reduce drag.”
