The new Volkswagen Crafter will offer extra payload capacity and improved cargo capacity aimed at offering fleets greater functionality.
The vehicle is available in one of four base models, three lengths and three heights: a total of 69 derivatives. It is also available in front-, rear-, or wheel wheel drive variants.
With front-wheel drive, the Crafter achieves a cargo capacity of up to 18.4cu m and a maximum cargo space height of 2,196mm with a permitted total weight of 3.0-4.0 tonnes.
The load width between the wheel arches is 1,380mm and cargo space length is 4,855mm, making the overall measurements the best in its vehicle class.
In the case of the rear-wheel drive Crafter, the permitted total weight ranges from 3.5 to 5.5 tonnes.
The load width on the heavy vehicles with dual rear wheels has been increased in comparison to the previous model by over a metre,thus allowing it to be loaded using a wider range of standard carriers.
