Venson Automotive Solutions has gained accreditation for the Freight Transport Association’s (FTA) Van Excellence scheme to enhance standards of its own van fleet.

Van Excellence is an industry-led initiative which has been developed by FTA alongside some of the UK’s best van operators, drawn from all sectors of industry.

It aims to improve operating standards within the industry, change perceptions of van drivers and enhance the reputation of organisations operating van fleets.

Venson underwent an independent assessment by FTA auditors who examined its procedures for managing its in-house commercial fleet.

This included a check of driver and vehicle records to ensure the fleet operation was safe and compliant with current legislation.

“We’re very pleased to have achieved the Van Excellence accreditation for our own fleet," said Samantha Roff, managing director of Venson Automotive Solutions.

"Being the first fleet management company to do so is very rewarding, but more importantly, it underpins our passion and commitment to helping companies operate safe and efficient fleets."

Mark Cartwright, head of vans and light commercial vehicles at FTA, added: “There are now 3.2 million vans in the UK, representing one in 10 vehicles on our roads.

"With vans still frequently suffering a poor and often unjustified reputation, our Guide to Van Excellence has been designed to support organisations operating vans to overcome these issues.

"The package provides a wealth of best practice guidance for operating safely, legally and efficiently and is designed to help both raise and improve standards across van operations.

"Venson is a great example of a team that focuses on promoting high standards for the benefit of staff, other road users and its customers.”
