Speedy has become the first tool and equipment hire company in the UK to have its entire national depot portfolio accredited ‘silver’ under the Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme (FORS).

All of its 264 operational sites, located across UK and Ireland, surpassed all safety requirements and achieved FORS silver certification.

While other companies in the UK construction sector are FORS silver certified, Speedy says it has achieved an industry first by being the first tool and equipment hire company to implement these standards across its entire depot network.

Speedy, which was first awarded bronze FORS in 2012, has actively promoted these standards and continually demonstrates legal compliance, safety, operational efficiency and environmental protection.

Mark Rogerson (pictured), chief executive officer at Speedy, said: “To be recognised as the first tool and equipment hire company in the UK to have its entire national depot portfolio accredited under FORS silver is testament to the Speedy transport team and they should be truly proud of their success.

“We share a responsibility to create a safe and healthy work environment which is why we engage with our transport and logistics employees on company initiatives. This forms an integral part of improving our logistical processes, as our employees are well placed to identify any problems as well as potential solutions.

“Our logistic management team continually review the way our fleet operates and constantly look at process improvements, while Speedy’s company focus on safety also ensures that this remains central to our operation.”

Speedy’s transport team has achieved a further four accolades for its fleet. Last Thursday (September 18), it was a double win for the team, after being awarded ‘Safe Van Fleet of the Year’ and ‘Van Fleet of the Year’ at the Fleet Van Awards 2014.

The team also recently won the coveted ‘Safe Vehicles Award’ at the Brake Fleet Safety Awards 2014 as well as the ‘Safest Fleet of the Year’ at the Fleet News Awards 2014.

FORS represents a quality and performance benchmark and recognises fleet operations which comply with the requirements of many construction sites throughout the UK. It rewards businesses committed to becoming safer, greener and more efficient.
