Birmingham-based Lord Combustion Services is the first business in the UK to take delivery of new ‘Driveaway’ commercial vehicles supplied by Lex Autolease.

The vehicles, which are pre-fitted with industry-specific internal fixtures and fittings such as racking and storage solutions, can be used immediately after they are delivered.  As a result the downtime that accompanies standard van conversions is removed, enabling businesses to make cost savings.

The four-year contract hire deal supports the company’s goal to reduce its transport costs.  It’s the first phase of a broader plan to upgrade its fleet of 32 company-car and commercial vehicles, switching to more economical, reliable and professional solutions to help service its growing customer base across the West Midlands.

Businesses can save up to 20 percent by choosing a Driveaway vehicle compared to the cost of leasing a van and arranging a conversion separately. Pre-fitted vehicles are initially available for the plumbing, electrical, joinery and general construction trades, with further launches planned later this year.

Stuart Smith, managing director of Lord Combustion Services, said: “We were looking for an easy, flexible and economical way to integrate new vans into our business, and the Driveaway option has ticked all the boxes. While contract hire makes it easy to manage costs, the vans themselves were ready to use and look incredibly professional – essential for winning new clients. To be able to acquire such high-spec vehicles so quickly gives us the chance to get on with business without the usual disruptions.”

Nikki Smart, relationship manager at Lex Autolease, said: “This deal has saved the company valuable time and money while adding value to its fleet – an attractive proposition for any business looking to capitalise on new opportunities coming out of the economic recovery. Although Driveaways delivers pre-fitted vehicles, it’s not just a one-size-fits-all solution. We worked closely with the client to develop an all-in-one package that works for the business from a functional and financial perspective. We look forward to further supporting Stuart and his team as they put their business plans into action.”
