Hampshire-based Chimflue has added a Mercedes-Benz Citan to its existing van fleet.

The vehicle is a Citan 109 CDI Long –  the first small van in the Mercedes line-up. It comes into service alongside a Long-bodied Vito and a Medium-length Sprinter. All three are maintained under ServiceCare agreements by local Dealer – and near neighbour – Pentagon Commercials.

Chimflue, which also has an office in Hatfield, Hertfordshire, supplies materials to the trade but installations at hospitals, schools, hotels and restaurants, as well as large domestic properties, account for most of its business.

The Sprinter and Vito are assigned to two-man installation teams and regularly used to tow a ‘cherry picker’. The bigger Sprinter carries scaffold towers, pallets, flexible liners and larger equipment. The Citan, meanwhile, is allocated to a team who undertake smaller installations, as well as carrying out ‘snagging’ jobs.

The company also owns another Vito, a Dualiner model with second row of seats, which it uses regularly to support project work.

Managing Director Sam Ford said: “We’ve been growing strongly over the last few years and doing so in partnership with Mercedes-Benz, whose vans are fit for purpose, reliable and cost-effective to operate.

“Pentagon Commercials’ out of hours servicing capability is also a big attraction – it means we can drop a vehicle off at the end of the day and get it back first thing next morning, ready to go to work again.”
