Northgate Vehicle Hire is backing road safety charity, Brake, throughout its annual Road Safety Week. The campaign, which runs from the 18th to the 24th November, will see Northgate steering drivers in the right direction by urging road users not to become distracted.

The vehicle hire company is backing the campaign with an internal initiative, which sees Northgate’s Bright Van Man hitting the road once again and raising awareness via a dedicated intranet page, website page, posters and an information sheet, which are being featured across all Northgate branches within the UK and Ireland.

Colin Gilstin, Group Safety & Environment Manager at Northgate Vehicle Hire, said: “Road Safety Week gives us an opportunity to promote to our staff and customers the dangers of attempting to multi-task whilst driving. We all know multi-tasking whilst driving increases the risk of becoming less observant and massively increases the chances of being involved in an accident.

"With the help of our safety mascot, Bright Van Man, we’re encouraging drivers to think twice before they attempt to multi-task at the wheel and ask themselves the question – can it wait? The majority of the time, it can.”
