Burton Sameday has added a new fridge vehicle from their local Burnt Tree branch in Derby, as almost 50% of its fleet is now temperature controlled.

Recently, Burton Sameday had switched its rental policy over to Burnt Tree for some of its ambient dry freight rental vehicles, however, following the launch of the new Refrigerental Division, Burton Sameday has now also taken its first refrigerated rental vehicle from Refrigerental, with a further second identical vehicle due to join the fleet soon.

The Mercedes LWB 313 Sprinter, fitted with a Carrier Xarios 350 direct drive refrigerated system that can cover temperatures from -18° C to +10° C, has joined the 36 strong vehicle fleet at Burton Sameday, operating from the company’s town centre location in Burton on Trent.

Operations manager Rob Crisp said: “We have developed a specialist service delivering urgent pharmaceutical supplies to patient’s homes and businesses, as well as a range of foodstuffs, so our fleet of refrigerated vehicles is continuing to grow.

“We have been impressed by our dealings with Lisa Davis at Burnt Tree in Derby for the dry freight vehicles supplied to date, so it was a natural progression for us to source our next refrigerated vehicle from them as well.”

Such has been the positive impact of this vehicle that Burton Sameday has now committed to taking on a second identical specification temperature controlled Mercedes 313 Sprinter, again on a long term rental agreement, and this is due to join their fleet later this month.

“Because of the nature of our temperature controlled work, we have extremely stringent specification requirements for us to comply with the relevant legislation,” said Crisp.

“We were impressed by the quality of the Burnt Tree vehicle specifications within their overall Refrigerental range and are now looking forward to develop this relationship with Lisa Davis and her rental team in Derby across our whole range of ambient and chilled vehicles.”

Both new Refrigerental single temperature, heavy chill vehicles are joining Burton Sameday’s mixed fleet of vehicles that offer a flexible same day courier service across the whole of the Midlands area.

They are being supplied by the local Burnt Tree depot in Derby, as part of the company’s new Refrigerental Division that can now provide a full selection of 63-plate, temperature controlled rental vehicles on a national basis, ranging from car derived vans and panel vans, right up to 18tonne and 26tonne rigid trucks, covering both single and multi-temperature applications.

Neil Murphy, refrigerental general manager at Burnt Tree: “We have felt that there is a major opportunity in the current market place for Burnt Tree to expand its vehicle rental business into the temperature controlled market sector.

“The overwhelmingly positive reaction of customers since the launch has proved that we are on the right road with Refrigerental and we welcome Burton Sameday as a new Refrigerental customer.

“We look forward to working closely with them as they expand both their specialist temperature controlled delivery operations as well as their ambient business.”
