Mercedes-Benz Sprinter is best large van

The Mercedes-Benz Sprinter is the best panel van of 2012, according to the judges in the Fleet Van Awards.

The Sprinter took the win ahead of a highly commended Volkswagen Crafter, and was announced at the Fleet Van Awards Luncheon on December 5.

The Sprinter has a reputation as an excellent large van capable of hard work and high mileage, and saw off other competition from the outgoing Ford Transit, Renault Master, Vauxhall Movano and Nissan NV400.

I would normally agree with the above comments as I have done 350,000 miles in them over 7 years. However, if like me you place an order for a specific specification and the franchise dealer ignores this and opts to place an order to MBUK (ltd) with their version (to save money). They, and I mean the franchise dealer seem to then fit NON- Mercedes parts to save money, you like me will get horrendous issues - Its a "legal case" so I cant say more until THURSDAY this week - need to know more stay tuned!

Thanks, but I will wait for the 2016 revamped Sprinter. Online research warns of turbo and transmission failures as well as some gremlin electrical problems. Yes the repairs last but these short comings are unacceptable at a Premium price.

  @Prepper1 - Hi and good evening. I have done 68000 miles this year, mostly in the EU. Had the vehicle I bought been the one delivered then all I would have had fixed (repaired under warranty) would have been TWO front shocks (there seems to be an issue and its known about) a failed fuel tank seal (sonmething that was caused at amanufacture) and a windscreen rubber souround, twas not a leaking issue, just the rubber. Same brake pads and discs from new. I have had to use Winter Tyres in the EU, so the same "standard" set being now 1year old is ok for another 15k at least. I would recommend this brand, its the Franchise you need to be sure about!
