The new Doblo Cargo “stands out head and shoulders above some tough competition in its sector,” said the judges. “The Doblo has made the most progress over the model it replaces and it offers a clear advantage over its rivals. Quality has improved significantly while the one-tonne payload makes it useable for a wide range of applications. It is available with some very economical diesel engines.”

At the awards, Volkswagen also took the coveted 2010 Fleet Van Manufacturer of the Year.

“Quality, quality, quality,” said the judges. “Volkswagen offers the best brand value for UK fleets with excellent back up from the manufacturer.”

Other headline awards went to BT Fleet, which was named Van Fleet Supplier/Service Company of the Year, and to Justin Patterson from the MITIE Group who was named Van Fleet Manager of the Year.

Roadsafe director Adrian Walsh also received a Platinum Award for his ”undaunted and unstinting” efforts to improve road safety through Driving for Better Business. “He puts fleet safety firmly in the spotlight which is helping to save the lives of van drivers,” said the judges.
