Ford is to extend a mobile van servicing programme, after a successful pilot in London last year.

The scheme now has complete coverage of Greater London, operated by Ford-owned dealer group Trust Ford, and a team of eight mobile service technicians. The programme is now to launch in other areas of the country, with Think Ford in Farnborough, Hants and Jennings Ford in the north east already signed up.

It covers on-site servicing, maintenance and warranty repairs on the premises of fleet customers. Mobile technicians will also be able to service non-Ford vehicles making it easier for fleet operators running multi-brand fleets.

Mobile technicians receive full specialist training and operate from a fleet of liveried Ford Transit vans, with 2.5-tonne jacks and axle stands which allow technicians safe access to the underside for routine jobs such as oil changes.

The vehicles are equipped with on-board diagnostic capability and have been fitted with specially designed racking by Edstrom which holds all necessary tools and equipment to carry out comprehensive service.

“We are delighted to be extending Ford Mobile Servicing with the opening of another Transit Centre,” said Terry Rayner, Ford Transit Centre director.

“There is growing national interest in mobile servicing among our UK Transit Centres – many of whom will follow for even greater national coverage through 2016.”

The programme also frees up service bays across the Ford network of 107 Transit Centres.
