Pets at Home has turned to Cartwright’s curtainsider semi-trailers to combat low bridges.

The retailer had a problem with bridge access in the south east and asked Cartwright to build (fleet specification) straight frame tri axle curtainsider semi-trailers with an overall height of four metres.

The curtainsider trailers, which have buckle-less operated curtain tensioning, are now on the road meeting the requirements of the Pets At Home customer and accessing low bridges efficiently as a result of their lower height.

Pets At Home has also ordered an urban tandem axle box van with rear steer from Cartwright specifically for delivery of products from its RDCs into its high street stores.

This one-off order could lead to further orders for urban tandem axle box vans from Cartwright as the company has an increasing requirement for delivery to high street locations in addition to existing out of town stores.

Pets at Home’s fleet and compliance manager Campbell Baxter said: “We are very pleased with these latest trailers from Cartwright and particularly because they give Pets at Home the flexibility to access smaller, non-retail park locations.”
