Marshalls targets £350,000 fuel saving with telematics

Marshalls, supplier of hard landscaping materials, expects to reduce its fuel spend by more than £350,000 over the next 12 months by installing TomTom telematics in its 200 trucks.

The comapny is introducing a driver improvement programme underpinned by OptiDrive 360 (a key component of the Webfleet fleet management platform which provides real-time feedback and advice to improve driving performance) and a new driver training support team. It is looking to achieve a 5% improvement in fuel performance across its vehicle fleet

“We’re anticipating notable improvements in both fleet mileage and mpg performance,” said Guy Ripley, regional logistics and fleet manager at Marshalls.

“Having invested in a number of telematics systems over recent years that have failed to meet our expectations, we turned to Webfleet which offers easy software integration opportunities, extensive levels of functionality and one of the most future-proofed platforms on the market.”

Marshalls has integrated Webfleet with dynamic scheduling software Reach to help optimise job planning, operation efficiency and productivity.

The company has also invested in the TomTom Pro 8275 driver terminal to digitise paper-based workflow, with plans in place to introduce electronic proof of delivery (ePod) and defect reporting. The terminal connects to Webfleet, allowing businesses to integrate information captured in the field into their back-end systems.
