Pall-ex network branch Premier Palletised has been recognised for its support of a local food bank.

The Wembley firm was commended on its charitable contributions to a food bank in Stonebridge as part of the 2015 Sufra Awards, which recognise the hard work of individuals and businesses in combating food poverty in the local area.

PPL’s work with the Sufra Food Bank and Kitchen began following a supermarket’s contribution just over a year ago. Eight tonnes of food were offered to the charity, under the condition that the produce was collected within 24 hours - which PPL duly arranged.

Adam Hopcroft, managing director at PPL said: “The fantastic work that Sufra does is extremely important to local families and communities, and we support the charity wherever we can. We feel privileged to have been recognised at these awards and look forward to sustaining this partnership in years to come.”

PPL has now been providing free collection and delivery of donations since 2014.

The company’s fleet now comprises 38 vehicles, ranging in size from 40ft articulated lorries down to smaller vans.

Director of Sufra, Mohammed Mamdani, added: “We are heavily dependent on PPL in supporting our food bank operation for vulnerable families in the local community. Whenever we receive a donation, we know we can always rely on PPL to provide transportation from anywhere across the UK to our base in North West London.”

Kevin Buchanan, Pall-Ex Group managing director concluded: “I am delighted PPL has been recognised for its great efforts to contribute to such a worthy cause, at the heart of its local community. It really is inspirational to see the importance of the haulage industry in supporting smaller businesses and charities.”
