Novadata have launched a product which they say can help operators maintain a full paper trail of any vehicle defects and the action taken to rectify them. The book can be kept on file in accordance with the requirement to keep records for 15 months, and can be used to demonstrate compliance in the event of an inspection said Novadata.

“The defect rectification report helps businesses to safeguard their operator licence or restricted operator licence in the event of an inspection,” said Su Winch, managing director of Novadata.

“The handy book includes details of the vehicle in question, the defect, what work was undertaken to rectify the problem as well as details of who repaired it, and who witnessed it.

She continued: "The information needed to complete the book acts as a clear prompt to ensure that repairs are carried out properly and the vehicle tested and recorded as safe after repair. It is suitable for recording rectification on any vehicle, including trailers, so one book can apply to the entire fleet."

Winch concluded: "A robust paper trail of daily vehicle checks and defect repair work carried out can be a vital means of demonstrating that your business takes vehicle maintenance and safety seriously – standing you in good stead if inspected by the authorities.”
