Renault Trucks is continuing to strengthen its presence in Scotland with the acquisition of the Border Trucks dealership at Bellshill, near Glasgow.

The dealership is now operating under the name of ‘Renault Trucks Scotland’ and Peter Murray has been appointed dealer principal.

Murray said: “This is an exciting time for Renault Trucks in Scotland; we’re enjoying strong sales, with the robust and efficient product range transforming perceptions of the brand, now enhanced by the addition of the flagship right hand drive Range T High model to the UK market.

“I am looking forward to this opportunity to develop Renault Trucks’ reputation in Scotland as the customer cost champion, delivering the value for money and excellent customer service that will grow our business across new, used and aftersales with both customers and prospects, and to increase our market presence in the central belt and throughout our hinterland.”

He continued: “The strength and quality of the Renault Trucks dealer network has always been at the heart of our success and I am delighted to be joining the team of dedicated people in Scotland who deliver support to our customers throughout the life of every vehicle.”

Murray brings a wealth of experience in commercial vehicles; his thirteen year career with Renault Trucks includes roles as key accounts manager; area sales manager and business development manager.

Starting his automotive career as a workshop technician, he also has relevant workshop and aftermarket experience in previous positions.

Commenting on both the acquisition of Border Trucks and Murray’s appointment, Arne Knaben, managing director, Volvo Group Trucks – UK & Ireland, said: “Scotland is a key region for Renault Trucks, and with its unique set of challenges - geography, climate and road infrastructure - that are faced by hard working operators it is very important for us to have a customer-focused dealer principal in the driving seat at our Glasgow site.

“Peter brings with him unrivalled knowledge of the range and extensive management experience to the role. He is well known and respected by everyone at Renault Trucks and throughout our dealer network, and will deliver an even higher level of customer service to all Renault truck operators in Scotland.”

The staff at Bellshill will transfer across from the Border Trucks business. This includes the existing management team, who will continue to provide direction and clarity of focus to customer service operations at the dealership.
