F.R Shadbolt & Sons has been awarded FORS Gold accreditation, the highest level available.

Shadbolt has been working with FORS to progress through the levels of accreditation in order to secure more business within London.

Shadbolt discovered FORS, the accreditation scheme encompassing safety, fuel efficiency, vehicle emissions and improved operations, when tendering for work within London.

The requirements and benefits of joining the scheme fit with their ethos of continually improving safety and would also complement the company’s drive to improve fuel efficiency and reduce its environmental impact.

Shadbolt takes compliance and safety very seriously and as a result achieved its Bronze and Silver accreditations first time. The company utilised FORS to help with the training and tools required in order to improve policies and procedures, finding the performance management toolkit particularly useful in setting targets for reducing its carbon footprint and penalty charge notices while also improving MPG.

“Gaining FORS Gold accreditation shows how dedicated we are as a company to improving road safety and the safety of all vulnerable road users in London as well as nationally,” said Melanie Ward, transport manager and fuel and emissions champion at F.R Shadbolt & Sons Ltd.

“We will continuously use what FORS has taught us to help reduce our carbon footprint and make the roads safer for everyone that uses them. We have also managed to make a significant saving by reducing our fuel usage and improving our MPG.”

All Shadbolt drivers have completed their Safe Urban Driving course, which was funded by Transport for London.

The company has also invested heavily in vehicle safety systems such as 360 degree cameras, nearside proximity sensors and audible alarms for all vehicles. Through FORS training the company has increased its fuel efficiency by 31% over the past 12 months.
