Dunmow Waste Management has added four Volvo FL skip loaders to its fleet.

Over the past few years the family-owned company has grown from a £2 million turnover business with a handful of trucks to one that now operates 28 trucks with a turnover of circa £9 million in 2015.

Sam Malins, managing director of Dunmow Waste Management, said: “This type of expansion demands reliability and productivity and that’s exactly what we get from Volvo trucks and the dealership (Volvo Truck and Bus Centre) in Enfield.”

The four new Volvo FL skip loaders are the result of the Volvo initiative that has seen the manufacturer team up with some of the key bodybuilding concerns to make complete working trucks available at optimum delivery lead times.

“Ordering these Volvo FL skip loaders as complete units without having to deal with a separate bodybuilder for the skip loader elements simplified the entire process and let us concentrate on the business of collecting and recycling construction & demolition waste as well as household clearance waste,” said Malins.

The 3.8 metre wheelbase trucks, which are fitted with nine-speed manual transmissions, feature air conditioning, Bluetooth connectivity and electric and tinted windows. Additionally, there’s a ‘Comfort’ seat for the driver and the traction control has the Volvo hill-hold function.

Bodywork comes in the shape of the Hyvalift NG2012XL skip loader with a lifting capacity of between 5.4 and 12 tonnes depending on arm positioning and extension.
