ABAX has been chosen by the UK’s largest welding company to supply a fleet control system for its vehicle fleet.

Welding Engineers has taken delivery of ABAX’s Triplog technology for its 77-strong van fleet, a product that automatically documents all driving via GPS, calculates mileage and distance, all to increase efficiency and eliminate the risk of HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) penalty charges.

Kevin Bull, UK in-house sales director for ABAX, said: “This is a three-year contract and we are very pleased that Welding Engineers has recognised our technology as the best solution for the company’s fleet control and management.

“The company now has more control of its fleet with our fast and reliable systems.”

Formed in 1966, Welding Engineers specialises in the manufacture, installation, repair and maintenance of all types of industrial doors and shutters.

Working with a customer base in industry sectors such as railways, retail and airports, Welding Engineers has branches in Aberdeen, Birmingham, Bristol, Glasgow, London, Manchester and Newcastle.

James Cassells, Director at Welding Engineers, said: “Having a cost-effective vehicle fleet is key to the success of our business. We have been impressed with the ABAX technology and their company has been very helpful in assisting us with its functionality. I am sure implementation costs will be recouped quickly.”

The announcement comes at a time of growth for Norwegian-owned company ABAX, which acquired Dutch company Trevler this month.

The purchase of Trevler, a specialist in the field of fleet management in the Netherlands, reinforces ABAX’s ambition to strengthen its presence in Europe, where it now employs more than 200 people.
