The dangers of falling asleep at the wheel and the use of technology and data to reduce risk are just two of the topics up for discussion at next month’s Fleet Van summit.

The event, on September 10 at the Peterborough Arena, has a packed schedule including speakers from BT Fleet, the British Sleep Society and data provider CAP.

With almost 20% of accidents on major roads being sleep related, Dr Nicholas Oscroft, respiratory physician at Papworth Hospital, will share the latest findings from research undertaken by the British Sleep Society, providing some tips and guidance for van operators to reduce and overcome driver fatigue issues.

Andy Mair, head of engineering at the Freight Transport Association, will cover the major changes to type approval regulations for van modifications and conversions, including an overview of the legal implications.

Managing director of BT Fleet, Dave Bowen, will cover the risk management programme the firm put into place, and how they implemented it across one of the UK’s biggest and most complex van fleets.

A variety of breakout sessions are also on offer, along with a great chance to network with other fleet operators and managers from within the van sector.

Tickets for the event are still available. To book call 01733 468289, or book online at https://fleetvan.fleetnews.co.uk/book.
